Maria Pareja wins at the Annie Awards for Wolfwalkers Production Design

The Annie Awards gala took place this weekend, one of the most significant events honoring those that worked on the year’ s best animated films. This year, two of our students were directly nominated for the Annie Awards: Andrés Bedate, nominated for Best Animator in Film for The Willoughbys (Bron Studios), and María Pareja, nominated for Production Design, along with directors Ross Stewart and Tomm More, for Wolfwalkers (Cartoon Saloon, Kilkenny – Ireland).

The latter, a former Animation Degree student, nominally won the award. She is the first U-tad student to have achieved this. At less than thirty years of age, María Pareja is making a name for herself among the best animation professionals. Our former student has worked in various roles at Wolfwalkers. She taken on the roles of Production Designer, Concept Artist, Junior Scene Illustration Artist and Co-director of Art Production .

María Pareja is off to a very strong start in the world of animation. In fact, the production she worked on is also nominated for an Oscar, the awards taking place on April 26th. U-tad wishes our former student the best of luck, although she doesn’t need it. She has shown that with hard work and effort, dreams do come true.
